- Vincent E. Benstead, Vice Chairman of the Board of Landmark National Bank, was a Founder and Director of Legacy Bank. Mr. Benstead spent 39 years with Price Waterhouse Coopers (PWC), an international accounting firm; 25 of which he was an Audit Partner working on the audits of banks and other financial institutions including San Diego Trust & Savings Bank, La Jolla Bank & Trust, Scripps Bank, North County Bank and First National Bank, and was the Partner in Charge of PWC’s San Diego office. Mr. Benstead also served as PWC’s Southwest Regional Managing Partner. He currently is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Scripps Research Institute, serving on its audit committee, and is a Director of the San Diego Aircraft Carrier Museum serving as chairman of the finance committee. He is a past President of the Holiday Bowl and an Honorary Board Member and past President of the Century Club. Mr. Benstead served as the Chairman of the Scripps Memorial Hospital Foundation during its successful $100,000,000 Funds for Greatness fundraising campaign. He was previously a director for the Scripps Institute of Medicine and Science, the Scripps Memorial Foundation, the Greater San Diego Sports Association, the Downtown San Diego Partnership, the Desert Pacific Boy Scout Council, the San Diego Civic Light Opera, the San Diego Multiple Sclerosis Society, the San Diego Chapter of the National Association of Accountants, San Diegans, Inc., the Greater San Diego Economic Development Corporation, the California CPA Foundation and the La Jolla Country Club.
- Ronald J. Carlson, former Chairman and CEO of Landmark National Bank,
has a 44-year banking career in San Diego County. He has served
as President of several community banks, including Scripps Bank,
Bank of Rancho Bernardo and La Jolla Bank and Trust Company.
His community activities include Kiwanis Club of La Jolla, Treasurer
of San Diego Blood Bank, Vice President and Director of the Desert
Pacific Council of the Boy Scouts of America, Director of the
Maritime Museum of San Diego and Director of The Gillespie School.
He earned a Bachelors Degree in Finance from the University of
Colorado.
- Martin C. Dickinson was a Founder and Vice-Chairman of the Board of Legacy Bank and has been involved in the San Diego commercial banking sector for 40 years. Most recently, Mr. Dickinson served as interim chief executive officer of Legacy Bank from April 2004 until it’s merger with Landmark National Bank in July 2005. He was Senior Vice President, Senior Credit Officer and a Director for Scripps Bank in La Jolla. While at Scripps Bank, he was instrumental in two oversubscribed capital offerings. Previously, Mr. Dickinson was Senior Vice President of La Jolla Bank & Trust Company and Manager of its main office. Mr. Dickinson also formerly worked at San Diego Trust & Savings Bank and Security First National Bank, both in San Diego. Mr. Dickinson currently serves on the boards of Oklahoma Publishing Company, H.G. Fenton Company and Broadmoor Hotel, Inc. Previously, he was a director of CBS Corporation and Gaylord Entertainment Company (NYSE). Mr. Dickinson is also active in numerous non-profit organizations. He is currently President of the Donald C. and Elizabeth M. Dickinson Foundation and is Chairman of the advisory boards of the Scripps Center for Integrative Medicine and the Scripps Cancer Center. He serves on the boards of the Scripps Foundation for Medicine and Science, Scripps Clinic, Scripps Institute of Oceanography, and the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum and is it’s past Chairman. Mr. Dickinson is a past President of the San Diego Historical Society and of the San Diego Intermuseum Council and previously served as Chairman of the City of San Diego Historical Site Board and the San Diego Bicentennial Committee.
- Orrin L. Gabsch has been a pharmacist in California since 1968
and is the former owner of several pharmacies in San Diego including
Burns Drugs in La Jolla. He serves as Vice President of the Board
of Pacific Pharmacy Computers, Inc. Active in La Jolla community
activities, he is Treasurer of the La Jolla Community Planning
Association, a member of La Jolla Rotary Club, and the Advisory
Boards of the Stevens Cancer Center and Scripps Clinic Center
for Orthopedic Research and Education. He earned a Bachelors
Degree in Pharmacy from the University of Wisconsin, Madison.
- David B. Goodell is President of Del Mar Investment Group, Inc.,
his real
estate investment and land development company he founded in
1973. He was
appointed by the Mayor and City Council to the San Diego North
City Future
Urbanizing Area Framework Plan Committee and was Chairman of
the North City
Alliance of Property Owners. His community activities include
member and Past president of the La Jolla Rotary Club, served
as board member and Chairman of the La Jolla Community fund, and
was a board member of the San Diego Oceans Foundation.
- Rick Mandelbaum is CEO and President of Landmark National Bank, and has
served as the bank’s Chief Operating
Officer since the bank’s opening in August of 2002. Prior
to joining Landmark National Bank, Mr. Mandelbaum was the Senior
Vice President, Regional Administrator for Scripps Bank until
the bank was acquired in October 2000. Additional experience
includes serving as Senior Vice President, Real Estate Manager
for Escondido National Bank / First Pacific National Bank from
1987 to 1998. Mr. Mandelbaum was a former President of the Boys
and Girls Club of Inland North County, having served on the Board
of Directors, as a member of the Finance Committee and has chaired
several fund raising events.
- Christopher Scripps McKellar was a Founder and Chairman of the Board of Legacy Bank well as a Founder and Director of Scripps Bank from its formation in 1984 through its merger with U.S. Bancorp in 2000. Mr. McKellar was also a Director of Scripps Financial Corporation, the bank’s holding company. Mr. McKellar has worked in the real estate development industry since 1970. He is currently Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of California Traditions, Inc., a leading builder of single-family homes in Southern California and Nevada, commercial and industrial projects in San Diego and Orange Counties and apartment projects in Sacramento. He is also currently the President of McKellar Development, Starward Ventures, Capella, and of Axiom, Inc., all San Diego real estate investment companies. He is the senior officer with numerous additional real estate development companies including Silverstar Partners, Bridges at Wood Creek Oaks LLC, Laguna Associates, LLC, Otay I Associates, LLC, Otay II, LLC and 707 Partners, LP and is a partner in 9888 Partners, LP, SDDB/L Partners and La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club, LP. Mr. McKellar is involved with numerous non-profit organizations and has participated in many fundraising efforts. He is presently a Trustee of the Bishop’s School in La Jolla and serves on the board of the Neuroscience Institute. He previously served as a Trustee for the Scripps Clinic Foundation, La Jolla YMCA, Director of the La Jolla Museum of Contemporary Art and the San Diego Opera, and as a member of the Vestery, St. James-by-the-Sea, La Jolla.
- Edward J. Osuna has been in the collection agency business for
over forty-seven years. He purchased and/or founded Brush Collections,
Inc., Creditors Remedies, Inc., Action Process Service and Victorville
Collection Agency, Inc. In 1997, he merged those companies into
World Trotter Collection Agency, Inc. where he serves as President
and CEO. Previously, he was a Founder and Director of Point Loma
Savings and Loan Association, an institution that was converted
to a commercial bank, and Bank of Southern California, which
later merged with First National Bank. He served as a director
of Consumer Credit Counselors and on Bank of America's Youth
Educational Foundation. An active supporter of youth sports,
he has served as a director of the Fletcher Hills Little League
and is currently active in the Tecolote Baseball program.
- Marshal A. Scarr, an attorney, has practiced law in the San Diego
area since 1983 and is a shareholder with the firm of Peterson
and Price, A.P.C. His legal practice concentrates on business
and real property transactional matters, probate and trust administration.
His community activities include service as past board member
and Secretary of the San Diego chapter of the CCIM, past co-chairperson
of the Real Property Section of the San Diego County Bar Association,
a board member of San Diego Hebrew Homes and past board member
of the Senior Community Centers of San Diego. He earned a Bachelor
of Arts in Political Science from San Diego State University,
and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Santa Clara, School
of Law.
- James J. Schmid serves as the Chairman of Landmark National Bank, and as President of Chelsea Service Corporation,
a real estate investment company he founded in 1985. His company
focuses on investment, development, syndication and asset management.
Previously, he has served as Chief Operating Officer for Torrey
Enterprises, Inc., General counsel for McKellar Development Corporation,
and President of the Holding Company of State Bank and Trust
Company of New Ulm, Minnesota. He has been admitted to the Arizona
and California Bar Associations and holds a California real estate
brokers license. He earned a Bachelors Degree in Political Science
and History from the University of Minnesota, a Juris Doctor
from the University of Minnesota Law School, and an LL.M. in
taxation from the Graduate Tax Program at Boston University School
of Law.
- Larry G. Showley is a Principal and Partner of Showley, Archambault & Alexander,
a member firm of Partners Financial. The firm specializes in
the sale of life, long-term care and disability insurance and
offers other financial and advisory services for the individual
and corporate markets. He is a member of San Diego Rotary Club
and the Estate Planning Council of San Diego. He has served on
the Gift Planning Advisory Board for Scripps Hospital Foundation,
the Board of San Diego Country Club and the Mercy 1000 Foundation
of Mercy Hospital. He holds the professional designations of
Chartered Life Underwriter and Chartered Financial Consultant,
and earned a Bachelors Degree in Finance from the University
of Illinois.
- Anne C. Taubman formerly served as President and Chairman of
the Board for San Diego Seaport Village, a retail center in downtown
San Diego. Previously, she was a securities principal and Investment
Advisor with Christopher Weil & Company, Inc., an NASD registered
firm. She holds Series 7 and 24 securities licenses and earned
the designation of Certified Financial Planner. She serves on
the Boards of The Old Globe and Mainly Mozart and is a member
of the Director’s Cabinet of Scripps Institution of Oceanography.
She earned a Bachelors degree in Psychology from the University
of Denver and Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology from the
California School of Professional Psychology.
- Christopher Weil is President and CEO of Christopher Weil & Company,
Inc., an NASD/SEC securities broker-dealer and registered investment
advisor. His company provides investment management services
to individual and institutional investors. He is also President
and CEO of Storage Managers, Inc. and CWC Asset Advisors, sponsors
and managers of private equity ventures. His community activities
include service on the Board of Mainly Mozart and as Chair of
the Patricia and Christopher Weil Family Foundation. He is a
graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles.
- Thomas W. Wermers is CEO of Wermers companies, premier multi-family
builders in the industry. Serving the southwestern United States
and headquartered in San Diego, Wermers constructs new multi-family
apartments, senior assisted living facilities and extended stay
hotels. Mr. Wermers is a member of the Young President’s
Organization (YPO) Coastal San Diego Chapter, and is on the board
of Youth With a Mission (YWAM), an organization whose mission
includes building homes in Mexico and other third world countries.
